The New York & Hartford House Wrecking Company pulled down the tower of the Asylum Avenue Baptist Church.

The crew used “a steel cable attached to a powerful truck” to pull the tower down.

The tower had been ordered demolished by Philip Mason, who had deemed it a “menace to safety” yesterday.

The description of the wrecking company’s effort was reported at the meeting of the church’s general committee at the pastor’s house this evening.

The Asylum Avenue Baptist Church was destroyed by a fire yesterday.

The sidewalks around the church had been roped off yesterday, and no one was allowed to enter the building tower came down.

Not rebuilding the spire (tower) as a cost-saving measure would be discussed on March 15, 1931.

Philip Mason was the Hartford Building Supervisor.
