David M. Key and A. D. Hazen opened bids that they had received for the federal contract to produce stamped envelopes and newspaper wrappers for the Post Office Department.

The Diocese of Hartford held a requiem high mass for Pius IX at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church.

A dedicatory service was held at the newly completed basement chapel at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph.  This service was followed immediately by a pontifical high mass and then in the evening by a vesper service.

According to the Courant, the board of directors of the Plimpton Manufacturing Company held its annual meeting last week and elected officers and directors.
