The cornerstone of the Gross Memorial Chapel was laid.
Helen Clarissa Gross Chandler and Charles Welles Gross put down the first trowel of mortar.
The church applied for a permit to begin construction on the expansion project on June 11, 1939.
The first service in the chapel will be held tomorrow.
