Bell from the Church of the Savior relocated to South Baptist Church

06/13/1860 |

Category:

The bell at the Church of the Savior was lowered and then began its relocation to the South Baptist Church.

This item is the earliest report I’ve found that refers to the deconstruction of the Church of the Savior.

The item also referred to a bell being safely raised into place at the new Universalist Church.  It’s unclear if this is the same society that had previously maintained the Church of the Savior.

The last service was held at the Church of the Savior on May 27, 1860.

Demolition of the Church of the Savior will be underway on August 9, 1860.
