According to Charles E. Gross, “the ladies” of the church to propose and to promote the need for the parish house. Joseph Twichell subsequently identified Amelia Ray Clark, Hilah A. Kellogg, and Kate Stone Williams as the primary movers of this proposal.

The Young People’s Federation of the church took over the idea as well as the planning for the parish house.

March 16, 1902

Joseph Twichell gave a sermon that stated the need for a parish house.

The Young People’s Federation raised the funds for the project.

April 12, 1903

Joseph Twichell announced that $25,000 had been raised for the construction of the new parish house. The Courant headline for the article that reported on this announcement, “All the Money Raised,” suggests that the project had been scaled back from its initial estimate of $35,000.

The Asylum Hill Congregational Ecclesiastical Society held a special meeting in order to accept the funds that had been raised for the construction of the parish house.
