James Dixon

(1814-1873) politician, lawyer, poet, and resident of Asylum Hill; member, CT General Assembly (1837-1838, 1844); US House of Representatives (1845-1849); CT Senate (1849-1855); US Senate (1857-1869); married 1840 to Elizabeth Lord Cogswell (1820-1871); four children: Elizabeth (1841-1931), Clementine (1843-1921), James (1846-1917), and Henry (1850-1932).
