John J. Williams had two lists of candidates for the Bishop of Hartford in hand and was preparing to forward those lists to Leo XIII.
Lawrence McMahon’s will was filed for probate, and James Hughes was designated executor.
The funeral of Lawrence McMahon was held at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, and then his body was interred in the crypt reserved for bishops in the Cathedral undercroft.
Lawrence McMahon’s body returned to Hartford and was lain in state at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph.

The feast of Saint Lawrence was celebrated at a morning mass at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, and it was followed by an anniversary dinner at the convent rectory in honor of the 15th anniversary of Lawrence McMahon becoming Bishop of Hartford.
A servant working in the house of C. M. Holbrook heard a man walking on the roof of the veranda. The man apparently jumped off of the roof and disappeared.
