James Roberts addressed the Sunday school about his experiences as a charter member of the church and as a foreign missionary in China.
Roberts was the only living charter member of the church.
Roberts was expected to participate in the anniversary service next week.
Roberts spent 35 years as a foreign missionary in China. He was in China during the Boxer Rebellion, and he had to escape from China into Siberia.
Roberts had been 14 when he attended the meeting that formed the Asylum Hill Congregational Society.
