A Home for Juliana Voorhees

The Courant reported that friends of the Voorhees family were making arrangements to transfer ownership of 22 Marshall Street to Juliana Voorhees.

On March 5, 1919, the Asylum Hill Congregational Society voted to extend John Voorhees’s salary and use of the parsonage to Juliana Voorhees through July 1.

  1. Voorhees wanted to remain in the city
    • She had many friends in Hartford
    • Her two daughters were under 5 years old
  2. The house was currently owned by Herbert O. Warner
  3. Voorhees’s friends hoped to have the transaction completed on May 1.

  1. Warner worked for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company.
  2. Voorhees remained in Hartford until her death in November 1956. She stayed at 22 Marshall Street until 1942, when she moved to 183 Kenyon Street.
