  1. Voorhees was suffering from pneumonia and septic poisoning, which had set in after his operation on December 28.
  2. He was running a temperature of 105.
  3. His family was at his bedside.

Voorhees developed pneumonia on December 30, 1918.

John Voorhees would die on January 8, 1919.

“For six months following his injury Dr. Voorhees was confined to the bed in a French hospital.  Then he was removed to Brest to be sent home on an army transport.”
