Howard Arnold Walter becomes Assistant Pastor at Asylum Hill Congregational Church

Howard Arnold Walter began his service as assistant pastor at Asylum Hill Congregational Church, giving the sermon at the evening praise service.

The subject of his sermon was “Elijah’s Challenge.”

  1. Walter had preached at the Norfolk Congregational Church over the summer.
  2. Walter first met with members of the Asylum Hill Congregational Society in September 1910 at a luncheon.

  1. Joseph Twichell announced Walter’s acceptance of the call to serve as assistant pastor at the morning service today.
  2. Howard Walter preached at the Norfolk Congregational Church this morning.

  1. The letters that the prudential committee and Howard Walter exchanged will be read at the mid-week prayer meeting on October 6, 1910.
  2. Walter will be examined and installed as assistant pastor on November 18, 1910.

Walter would live with Harry Conklin at 983 Asylum Avenue.

  1. Howard Walter replaced Philip C. Walcott, who had gone to become pastor at the Naugatuck Congregational Church.
  2. Joseph Twichell was a member of the prudential committee.
