Harmony Cushman Twichell died at Hartford Hospital around 12:30 AM.

Her death came about an hour after she had an operation for an ulceration of the bowels performed at Hartford Hospital.

The funeral of Harmony Twichell will be tomorrow.

  1. “It had been announced that Mr. Twichell’s pulpit at Asylum Hill Congregational Church would be occupied yesterday morning by his son, Joseph Hooker Twichell, but on account of Mrs. Twichell’s death the arrangement was prevented. Professor Austin B. Bassett of the Hartford Theological Seminary conducted a brief service.  There was no sermon.”
  2. At the request of the Courant, E. P. Parker provided a tribute to Harmony: “It is with reluctance that I attempt to comply with your request for a few words form me concerning Mrs. Twichell, simply because it is impossible to command the words that shall at all adequately express my mingled feelings of surprise, grief, affection and sympathy.  For nearly fifty years this noble wife of my dearest friend and brother has been as it were my sister.  My place at this time is with her husband and her children, afflicted and sorrowing with them, and like them seeking consolation.”
