Hartford Hospital Buys an X-ray Apparatus from Green & Bauer

The Hartford Courant reported that Hartford Hospital had added an x-ray machine to the equipment in its surgical department.  The machine had been manufactured by Green & Bauer.

Hartford Hospital planned to test the device at a tool to examine broken bones as soon as possible.

  1. There is some confusion as to when exactly Green & Bauer came into existence, based on later articles that refer to the company’s formation, but this article stands as the earliest reference to the company that I’ve found.
  2. Of course, it’s also a reference to Green & Baur.

  1. Green used an x-ray machine in an attempt to locate a bullet in Theodore Studley’s leg on July 17, 1896.
  2. Green applied for a patent on an x-ray machine, albeit probably not the one here, on September 30, 1896.

Green would be asked to comment on Thomas Edison’s theory on x-rays and blindness on November 27, 1896.

The article described Green & Bauer as “the electrical experts of this city.”
