New interior decorations in place at Asylum Hill Congregational Church

Asylum Hill Congregational Church re-opened for a public open house for the newly finished interior decorations.

  1. Open house began in the afternoon
  2. Evening event
    • Began with music
    • Joseph Twichell made some brief remarks.
    • The committee overseeing the project recounted the story of the project.

  1. Many people visited in the afternoon, but the biggest crowd came in the evening
  2. All of the members of the church thought the interior had been greatly improved

The Courant reported that the interior decorations were nearing completion on September 5, 1890.

A new baptismal font would be installed on April 17, 1897.

  1. “Much credit is due to the committee, and especially to Mr. Trumbull, for the manner in which the work has been done, and all are well satisfied.
  2. “A well known New York artist, who visited the church Saturday afternoon, said that it was one of the best specimens of that class of church decoration he had ever seen.”
