Calvin Stowe died at about 2:00 am.
There will be a memorial service for Stowe at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church on November 28, 1886.
Calvin’s son, Charles E. Stowe, was pastor of the Windsor Avenue Congregational Church at this time.
“When Mr. Jewett, the Boston publisher, a few months after [Uncle Tom’s Cabin’s] publication in book form paid Professor Stowe $10,000, as the first instalment of profit on the sale, the professor said it was ‘more money than he had seen in all his life.’”
