Fire at Trinity Episcopal Church

02/02/1880 |

Category:

A wreath of evergreens caught fire inside Trinity Episcopal Church.

  1. The burning wreath fell across a large Bible that had been given to the church by Lydia Sigourney.
  2. The Bible was burned so badly that it could no longer be used.

Information on this event comes from the May 16, 1910 article on Trinity Parish’s 50th anniversary.  So far, I haven’t found any contemporary reporting on this meeting.

Unattributed.  “Trinity Church fifty years old,” Hartford Courant, May 16, 1910, page 12.
