Attendees at a special meeting held of the Asylum Avenue Baptist Church voted unanimously to invite George M. Stone to become the church’s next pastor.

George M. Stone was in Tarrytown, NY at this point.

  1. Forrest F. Emerson resigned as the previous pastor on March 6, 1879.
  2. George M. Stone preached as a candidate at Asylum Avenue Baptist Church

  1. A meeting of the Asylum Avenue Baptist Church was called for May 1, 1879.
  2. George M. Stone would accept the invitation on or about May 16, 1879.
