O. L. Hatch purchased 847 Asylum Avenue from George B. Barnes

The Courant reported that George B. Barnes had sold his residence, 847 Asylum Avenue, to O. L. Hatch.

  1. Hatch was recently elected the Hartford manager of the United States Life Insurance Company of New York.
  2. Barnes was moving to Warehouse Point, “where his business interests claim a good deal of attention.”

This sale establishes that there was a house at 847 Asylum Avenue at least as early as this date.

  1. George Barnes bought 847 Asylum Avenue on October 3, 1867.
  2. The Courant reported on April 21, 1874, that Hatch was moving to Hartford from Worcester, MA.

O. L. Hatch and his wife Catharine Hatch would lose the property to foreclosure on June 12, 1877.
