The Courant reported “Young Brainard of East Haddam” had been sentenced to hard labor after trying to pass himself off as Marshall Jewell’s son.

Young Brainard had “defrauded several parties” in Belfast, Ireland.

Presumably, Young Brainard was caught, tried, and sentenced in Ireland, but the Courant article does not provide those details.

Marshall Jewell had two daughters, Josephine and Florence.  He did not have a son.
