The exterior at James Goodwin's house nearing completion

According to the Courant, the exterior of James Goodwin’s house was now almost completed, and work on the grounds along Woodland Street were being landscaped.

The Courant reported that James Goodwin’s house was nearing completion on August 30, 1873.

The Courant will include this house on its yearend list of new additions to Hartford’s grand list on December 23, 1873.

Today the Courant described the house as “James Goodwin’s beautiful building.”
