According to a report in today’s Courant, James Goodwin’s “unique and beautiful residence” is almost finished.

On September 15, 1873, the Courant will report that the exterior of the house was nearing completion.

The Courant reported that the house was “visited daily by numbers of people who roam about its great halls and immense rooms and leave it duly impressed with a sense of its grandeur among the dwellings of this or any other city.”

Unattributed.  “Brief mention,” Hartford Daily Courant, August 30, 1873, page 2.
