Garden Street Reservoir
Show TranscriptJonathan Clark: Across the street was do you know if this was the only reservoir or the first reservoir or one of many? David Corrigan: I don’t. It was the last before the reservoir went out of town. JC: Yeah. Across the street was the reservoir for the city of Hartford, sitting on top of the Hill so that it provided water pressure for downtown. It would not have been here by the time the building behind me was built. More information on that to follow. JC: So can I refer like this photo, can I refer to this photo and you’ll just drop it in? DC: Absolutely. JC: Audio over photo shot. JC: Here’s the photo of the reservoir that I was referring to when we were standing in front of the original Connecticut Mutual building, showing a lovely young lady on the quote shoreline of the reservoir and in the distance you can see what is probably a dormitory building for the asylum, and then the dome of the Capitol and two spires on the or two towers on the Hartford Public School building which is on Broad Street at the time.Hide Transcript Show SlideshowHide Slideshow
