Frankly Asked Questions

Well, it wasn't! Just to its north is the boundary of the Sigourney Square Historic District, and just to its south is the Asylum Hill Historic District. Up until July 2024, 102 Huntington Street hadn't been included in either of these historic districts. The story we've been told is that 102 Huntington was excluded from both districts because the owner at the time the nomination forms were being prepared and submitted didn't want the house included. Apparently, he had plans to demolish it and then build a medical office building, but those plans fell through. On May 21, 2024, NINA submitted a nomination form to the Connecticut State Historic Preservation Office to include 102 Huntington in the Sigourney Square District, and on July 10, 2024, SHPO officially listed the house as historic.
