Throughout the Courant’s article on the fire, there are references to “a member of the general committee” who gave information to the reporter. This information included estimates on the cost of the fire damage, speculation on the cause of the fire, and future plans for the church. The Courant identified only one person from the church who spoke to the reporter: Henry W. Warren, who was a church deacon and a member of the general committee who also served as the clerk of the general committee.

A. R. Carpenter; William B. Case; George A. Chandler; Harvey W. Corbin; Marion B. Denison; Earle E. Dimon; Charles F. Gordon; Frank B. Haggard, who was also the church’s pastor; Sherman Jenne; A. O. Knudsen; Kirby C. Pratt; Albert I. Prince; Frank R. Wheeler; and J. Allen Wiley.

Unknown. I’m still tracking down exactly when the furnace was installed and by whom. At this point, I’ve guessed that it was installed between 1925 and 1928, based on the Courant article’s statement that it had been installed “several years ago,” but it more than likely took place after the 1924 work on the vestry and before the 1930 redecoration (unless it was part of one of those two projects).

Unknown. The reasons Asylum Avenue Baptist Church considered the merger were well covered in the Courant, but so far I’ve seen very little reported on First Baptist’s motivations.
