The church could have used Patrick Keely's plan, which according to the Courant article from September 1864 did include a steeple. Or, the church could have adopted a new plan, which resulted in a steeple that, based on 1875 reports, was either 20 or 45 feet higher than Keely's steeple.
The record is silent on the construction of the steeple between April and August 1875.
Both the chapel and the church were dedicated, and the bell at least got its first official ring. There is no record that the completion of the steeple was officially celebrated.
