    Some disputes in the record

    Cost of the steeple

The cost of the steeple, which included the clock faces but no clock, was either $19,000 or $20,000. Mather's initial gift was for $19,000, but later reports, including from the church, placed the final cost at $20,000.

    The height of the steeple

The steeple grew in height with almost each successive report, and these changes may indicate whether or not the church used Patrick Keely's original design.
