Possible answers include: the society bought the entire length of street frontage between Huntington and Sumner and then sold the lots for the three houses; the society bought the entire length of street frontage between Huntington and Sumner and then built and sold the three houses; several individuals bought the entire length of street frontage between Huntington and Sumner, who then sold or built the three houses while holding back 188 feet of street frontage for the new church; or the society only bought the land on which the church and chapel would be built, either from Huntington and Buck directly or from the several individuals.
