The Courant published an invitation to bid on work on the Mansion House.

The work open for bids was for

  • asbestos abatement
  • a quotation on the removal of an underground fuel oil tank.

  1. The notice was run by the Hartford Coalition for Emergency Shelter, Inc.
  2. Bids were due by June 5, 1992, at the Connecticut Department of Housing.

The Mansion House is located at 847 Asylum Avenue, and the name is a holdover from the senior living facility that preceded this project.

  1. On May 27, 1992, a municipal inspector will visit 847 Asylum Avenue and report that no progress had been made on the project.
  2. A pre-bid inspection will be conducted by the Hartford Coalition for Emergency Shelter on May 28, 1992.
  3. The State Bonding Commission will approve funding for the Mansion House Renvoation Project on July 24, 1992.
  4. On March 30, 1993, Richard Tompkins will apply for a building permit to remove asbestos from 847 Asylum Avenue.
  5. On April 13, 1993, Joel Stiefel will apply for a heating permit in order to excavate and remove the underground fuel oil tank.
