Connecticut Mutual adding a new, larger vault to its building

The Courant reported today that Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company was adding a new, larger vault to its building on Garden Street.

  1. The new vault was being built under the terrace in front of the building on Garden Street.
  2. Preliminary work on the vault had already begun.

The American District Telegraph Company was installing “the very latest protective devices” in the vault.

  1. A white oak tree that stood over the planned location for the vault was felled.
  2. A large water main was moved from the south side of the portico to its north side.
