James M. Plimpton died in Norfolk, Connecticut.

Due to his recent, rapid decline in health, his death had not been unexpected.

  1. James’s health began to decline following a bout of pneumonia in November 1924.
  2. In July 1926, James traveled to Norfolk in hopes of regaining his strength.
  3. During the last few weeks, his health declined rapidly.

  1. “Thus it was that his entire business life was identified with one line of manufacturing and in point of years of service in the business Mr. Plimpton might have claimed, though he did not, title as dean of envelope manufacturers.”
  2. “James Plimpton – invariably known to his friends as “Jim” – was a man to whom business was a pleasure always and who was never more happy than when in his office deeply immersed in manufacturing problems.”

Unattributed.  “Plimpton, envelope co. head, dies,” Hartford Courant, August 5, 1926, page 1.
