Construction worker killed at Connecticut Mutual building

Jose L. Borros died while working on the construction of the new Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company building.

  1. Borros was 49 at the time of his death.
  2. He left a wife and three children.

  1. According to an unidentified source, Borros had been in the habit of jumping on the elevator while it was in motion, and it was believed that he had “missed his step.”
  2. Borros was killed instantly when his skull was crushed by a moving elevator used to hoist materials at the construction site.

The cornerstone for the new Connecticut Mutual building was laid on October 14, 1925.

  1. Glover E. Howe viewed Borros’s body on site.
  2. Borros’s body was then moved to Farley & Molloy at 129 Capitol Avenue.

  1. A funeral was planned for December 5, 1925, at Borros’s home at 207 Pleasant Street at 8:30 AM.
  2. A requiem mass would follow the funeral at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church at 9:00 AM.
  3. Borros will be buried in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery.
