An informal reception for Howard Arnold Walter and his wife was held at the parish house this evening. About 200 people attended.

The hosts for this reception were Juliana Denniston Deyo, Harriet Ingersoll, Jane Mallory, Edith I. Ney, and Susan Twichell.

The article identified Edith Ney as “Mrs. W. P. Conkin,” but this would have been a typo.

The Asylum Hill Congregational Church Men’s Club included a reception for Howard Walter at its meeting on May 9, 1916.

Walter would give the Easter sermon at Asylum Hill Congregational Church on April 8, 1917.

“There were appropriate decorations.”

  1. The article identified the four married hosts of the reception by their husband’s names:
  • Juliana Denniston Deyo was married to John Brownlee Voorhees
  • Harriet Ingersoll was married to Russell Jones
  • Jane Mallory was married to Merwin Gray
  • Edith Ney was married to William P. Conklin
  1. Marguerite Darlington, who was married to Howard Arnold Walter, was identified only as “his wife.”
  2. Susan Twichell, Joseph Hopkins Twichell’s daughter, was unmarried and, consequently, the only woman identified in her own name.
