James Howard was found unconscious in his bed this morning and taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital.

An investigation determined that the gas jet had been left partly on and that that had nearly asphyxiated him.

Howard surmised that the “gas jet in his room turns hard,” and he believed he hadn’t closed it completely.

James Howard had gone to bed last night at 9:00 PM.

  1. Howard regained consciousness late this afternoon.
  2. This evening, it was “said at the hospital” that he would fully recover in a day or two.

  1. James Howard was a carpenter who lived at 8 Foot Guard Place.
  2. He was not the James Howard I was looking for.
