Members of the parish of the Cathedral of Saint Joseph contributed $3,000.60 toward the completion of the construction of the cathedral.

Collections had been taken up at all parishes in the Diocese of Hartford during October.

During the same collections taken up during October 1889, the total amount collected was $3,239.75,

The article’s reference to last year’s collection could refer to the collection taken up at the cathedral or throughout the diocese.

The partially completed cathedral was opened to the public on October 13, 1887.

Collections for the construction fund will be taken up at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church and Saint Peter’s Catholic Church on October 26, 1890.
