The office of A. D. Hazen received six proposals for the contract to supply postmasters with official and registered package envelopes for the fiscal year.

The Plimpton & Morgan Envelope Company submitted a bid for $54,724, which was the lowest of the six bids submitted.

The cost of envelopes under the current contract was $100,810.83.

The article did not name the other five companies that submitted bids.

  1. A. D. Hazen was the third assistant postmaster general.
  2. $54,724 is equivalent to $1,738,163 in 2025. The current contract cost the government $3,201,989.16.
