David M. Key formally awarded the contract for stamped envelopes to the Plimpton and Morgan Envelope Company.

The contract will run from October 1, 1878 through September 30, 1882.

This is the earliest indication that I have found that Plimpton Envelope Company and Morgan Envelope Company had formed a joint venture.

Yesterday, David M. Key and A. D. Hazen opened the bids for the stamped envelope contracts.

David M. Key was the postmaster-general.
