The Courant reported that Plimpton Manufacturing Company had leased the upper floor of “Batterson’s new block” on Asylum Street.
The company planned to purchase and install new machinery as soon as possible.
The company had a large number of orders to fill and “will be kept busy so soon as it can commence work again.”
The company’s factory on Ford Street was destroyed by fire on January 28, 1877.
The article described the company as “one of Hartford’s most important corporations” and as a “thriving industry, which gives employment to several hundred hands”.
The company’s government envelope works were located in the “old” Batterson Block on High Street.
