Day 3 of the Hartford County Horticultural Society exhibition, focusing on vegetables.

The Hartford Quadrille Band performed at the end of the event.

Patrick Buckley entered two squashes, one weighing 178 pounds and the other weighing 163.

“The vegetable show consisted of the usual exhibit of mammoth productions.  Consequently the visitors looked at all, after the first, as very fair in their way, but none would submit to a surprise at anything they saw after the first five minutes.”

  1. Patrick Buckley was the gardener at the American School for the Deaf.
  2. George Affleck’s prize money would be equivalent to $720.89 in 2023.
