Henry Green dies

Henry Green died at his home, 50 Ashley Street.

 

  1. The cause of death was liver cancer brought on by x-ray poisoning.
  2. Green was survived by his wife, Annie, and his six children: Winifred, Dulce, Zevely, Harold, Roland, Randolf, and Leonard.

Green applied for a patent on vacuum tubes on December 21, 1912.

Green’s funeral would be held on March 6, 1914.

  1. “Henry Green, who died at Hartford, Connecticut, on March 4, 1914, did more for the advancement of X-ray tubes than any one man engaged in their manufacture.” – American Journal of Roentgenology.
  2. “The physicians in this city were among the first in this country to have the benefit of X-ray diagnoses, using Mr. Green’s tubes.” – Hartford Courant.
  3. “Mr. Green developed the first focussing tubes to be successfully operated and gave many public demonstrations, later beginning the manufacture of tubes on a commercial basis.” – New York Times.

  1. “Randolf” may also have been Rudolph. Future reports on him use both names, and the spelling of both names varies.
  2. Only Leonard married.
