The committee on site reported on its work, and the site recommended by the committee was approved.

The Asylum Hill Congregational Society had formed on June 25, 1864.

The Asylum Hill Congregational Society closed on its purchase of the site for the new church on July 5, 1864.

According to Melva Swartz, “other sites not so far west were suggested.”
